Private Chest Pain Assessment in London and Essex

Chest pain is one of the most common reasons patients come to see me, and understandably one of the most worrying. My priority is to get you a clear answer quickly — whether that's reassurance, or a diagnosis that needs treatment.

What I assess

Chest pain can come from the heart, but also from the chest wall, lungs, or digestive system. At your consultation, I take a detailed history of your symptoms, examine you, and - where indicated - arrange same-day or same-week testing to look specifically at your coronary arteries and heart function. This often includes an ECG, echocardiogram, and, where appropriate, CT coronary angiography or a stress echocardiogram.

Why early assessment matters

Angina and coronary artery disease are very treatable when caught early. Equally, ruling heart disease out with confidence - rather than living with ongoing uncertainty - is valuable in itself.

What to expect from your visit

I aim to combine consultation, examination, and initial testing into as few visits as possible, so you're not left waiting for answers.

FAQ

When should chest pain be assessed urgently?

Sudden, severe chest pain, needs emergency assessment (call 999) - it should not wait for an outpatient appointment.

What tests might I need for chest pain?

Commonly an ECG and echocardiogram as a first step, with CT coronary angiography or a stress echocardiogram added depending on your risk factors and symptoms.

Can chest pain be unrelated to the heart?

Yes - musculoskeletal, gastro-oesophageal, and respiratory causes are all common. Part of my assessment is establishing which is most likely in your case.

How quickly can I be seen?

I offer same-week private appointments for chest pain assessment in Essex and London.
