What is a cardiac MRI?
Cardiac MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) is a non-invasive scan that uses magnetic fields to create detailed images of the heart. It provides precise information about heart structure, function, tissue characteristics and blood flow.
Unlike some other imaging tests, cardiac MRI does not involve radiation.
Why might I need a cardiac MRI?
Cardiac MRI is often recommended to assess:
Cardiomyopathy (heart muscle disease)
Myocarditis (inflammation of the heart muscle)
Heart scarring or previous heart damage
